From: Allan 'The BEAR' Warren (214-592-8434 data--- The CAVE)
To : All SysOPs/Beta testers of Dias One
First of all thanks, for taking the time to help me in this effort.
Second, I am required to note that the program is in the testing phase
and I assume no responsibility for what it might or might not do. This
version is for BBSs running with a DORINFO?.def file (like RBBS 16.0 or
higher) but there are many conversion progs that will make it work on
almost any BBS from Fido to Wildcat; this will be left to you for now.
The existence of a file "DOOR.DEF" is assumed, in the current directory.
This is a plain ASCII text file, with 8 lines:
1. sysops first name
2. sysops last name
3. the path\filename of the DORINFOx.DEF
4. COM1 or COM2
5. the BBS name running the door
6. the path\filename for the doors scoreboard
if your door will not HAVE a scoreboard then
this line may be omitted from the file AND then
you wouldnt read it below either.
7. idle minutes allowed before "sleep disconnect"
if no input received from user
8. max # minutes user allowed in door
With all that out of the way: the copy that comes with this message is
the product of several hundred hours of programming (not meant to impress
you but maybe to help temper your critisisms) and has been ported over 3
different machines and OSs. It is all original (as original as code can
be anyhow) and not tied to any company or individual except me. I have
drastically shortened this version (the map on my home system is over
10,000 squares this one is barely 900) so it will not take up alot of your
disk space. There are only ten players allowed (again shortened for the
same reasons) but should be enough for beta testing. If your players need
to restart simply run iplydemo and it will zero out the storage area.
If you have any questions please feel free to call my board and leave msgs.
I also frequent boards in the D.C., Ohio, and Milwalkee areas and you may
see my name in those places. I appreciate all comments (kind or otherwise)
Thanks again.
